2018 Sekthaus Raumland Chardonnay Tradition Brut Nature 48
Disgorged in June 2023, so 28 months before I tasted in October 2025, the 2018 Chardonnay Tradition Brut Nature 48 from the Mölsheim Silberberg spent 48 months sur lattes. Cultivated on limestone clay soils and vinified in stainless steel with the malolactic fermentation included, the wine offers a clear, bright, fresh and intense bouquet with iodine, brioche and elegant white and partly yellow fruit aromas that indicate a beautiful maturity and freshness. Medium-bodied and fresh, this is a light-footed yet intense, dry and vinous sparkling wine with a straight, lemony and finely grippy finish. Dosage is just one gram per liter. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. DrinkDate: 2025 – 2033.

2018 Sekthaus Raumland Chardonnay Tradition Brut Nature 60
Disgorged in June 2024, so 16 months before I tasted it in October 2025, the 2018 Chardonnay Tradition Brut Nature 60 from the Mölsheim Silberberg spent 60 months sur lattes. Cultivated on limestone clay soils and vinified in stainless steel with the malolactic fermentation included, the intensely golden-yellow sparkling wine offers a generously rich and yeasty but also fresh and a little lemony and chalky bouquet of ripe and juicy yellow fruits with sweet brioche and sea breeze aromas. Fresh and with fine acidity and mousse, this is a light yet intense and mouthfilling, elegant, beautifully textured Champagne-like Rheinhessen Chardonnay. This is an extraordinary, long, complex and promising 2018 Blanc de Blancs that drinks superbly well today but will still do so in 10 years and more. This is a class above the earlier disgorged Brut Nature 48 that spent four years on the bottle lees. The dosage of one gram per liter is the same, but this wine is rounder, finer, textured and irresistible. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. DrinkDate: 2025 – 2036.

2018 Sekthaus Raumland Chardonnay Tradition Brut Nature 72
Disgorged only in June this year, the 2018 Chardonnay Tradition Brut Nature 72 from the Mölsheim Silberberg has spent 72 months sur lattes. Cultivated on limestone clay soils and vinified in stainless steel with the malolactic fermentation included, this white-golden sparkling wine is brighter than its sibling Brut Nature 60, which was disgorged 12 months earlier but also aged a full year longer after disgorgement. The Brut Nature 72 offers a fresh nose that indicates maturity but also freshness and purity combined with more prominent sulfite notes and apple compote aromas, and it gains in layers if aerated. Full-bodied, pure and fresh, this is clear, vital and mouth-filling, as well as savory on the palate yet also complex and tightly structured, yet when freshly poured, it's still not as beautifully textured as the Brut Nature 60 after 16 months post disgorgement. This could be due to the more apparent dose of sulfur, which always masks a wine in the first moments, particularly a just-disgorged sparkling wine. The finish, however, is promising. I would recommend aging this for another year. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in October 2025. I had the wine again the other day, and it had seriously gained in complexity, finesse, persistency and structure. This is an excellent Sekt from the southern Rheinhessen. Drink Date: 2027 – 2039.
